A warm welcome to thousands of new subscribers to Tomorrow’s World magazine! As you will shortly learn, this Work of God is growing continually and is now reaching millions of people through the Tomorrow’s World telecast, this magazine and our use of the Internet. As the end of this present age approaches, the living Jesus Christ is moving His Work forward with increasing power. It is exciting, yet sobering.
For even as I write, the effects of America’s “mid-term” elections are being felt. Many millions of Americans are upset at the massive spending spree of our federal government. They are deeply worried about our huge national debt. And they are fearful that even the lives of their children and grandchildren will not hold the promise and the opportunities that they themselves have had. Truly, America’s and Britain’s “pride of power” is being broken. And when you really understand biblical prophecy, you will know that, indeed, it will “never be the same again”—at least in this age.
Think!
What is the primary human source of most of the troubles, the suffering and the anguish affecting the nations of this world? From the despotic dictators of many Middle Eastern and African nations to the merely “corrupt” leaders of North and South America and elsewhere, most of the suffering we experience can be traced directly to wrong government! In Africa, some of the dictators even countenance “mass rape” as a weapon of war to intimidate entire regions. In other areas of the world, like Russia and a number of Asian nations, political opponents sometimes “disappear” and are never heard from again! In the United States, many of the candidates for high office have a proven record of corruption, lying or even criminal behavior! This is all representative of human governments under the sway of Satan the Devil who—as the Apostle Paul was inspired to tell us—is the “god” of this present world (2 Corinthians 4:4, KJV). The Bible also tells us clearly that “Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Revelation 12:9).
Again, the Apostle John tells us in Revelation that after Christ returns as King of kings, Satan is “bound…for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while” (Revelation 20:1-3). Your Bible is very clear on the fact that the invisible Satan is now being allowed to heavily influence the nations and governments of this world!
So, what will the Eternal God do when Christ returns?
In a famous prophecy, the prophet Daniel describes how—at the end of this age—“the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure” (Daniel 2:44-45).
The only genuine “solution” to this world’s mounting problems is right government! This government will be directly headed by Jesus Christ at His Second Coming. And it will be here soon—within the lifetimes of most of you now reading this!
That is why Jesus Christ’s primary message was actually about right government. For the Jesus Christ of your Bible came “preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God” (Mark 1:14). The Apostle Paul also was inspired to clearly indicate that the reward of true Christians is to assist Christ in governing cities here on earth. To the “faithful” servant, Jesus promised—not going to heaven to play a harp—but rather Jesus told him, “Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities’” (Luke 19:17). The Apostle Paul told the “saints”—the true Christians of his day—“Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?” (1 Corinthians 6:2).
And the Apostle John was inspired to reveal the “song of the saints” which speaks of Jesus Christ, “For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:9-10).
How clear!
From one end of the Bible to the other, God’s inspired revelation to mankind clearly and repeatedly indicates that true Christians—the “overcomers” (Revelation 2:26-27)—will be given positions of responsibility or rulership in the soon coming Kingdom of God. For “kingdom” means government. So if each of us truly surrenders to let Christ rule our lives, He will later use us—as His servants—in helping Him rule over the cities and nations of this world in His coming world government—the “Kingdom of God!” That is God’s purpose in calling you and me in this age. For He is preparing us to be those kings and priests in Christ’s soon-coming government. That is why this Work of proclaiming Tomorrow’s World exists!
We are doing all we can to help you and all our subscribers and Tomorrow’s World viewers to understand God’s purpose. Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong, our predecessor, and my personal mentor and teacher, began this special Work of God on January 7, 1934. He began on a tiny, 100-watt radio station, KORE, in Eugene, Oregon, and over the next 50 years his radio program expanded so much that it became the number one syndicated religious radio program across all of North America. By 1969, he was on 264 radio stations boldly proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. In 1967 he launched into television, starting with three TV stations, which grew to 257 over the next 27 years.
I carried on Mr. Armstrong’s heritage beginning in 1992, and continued to proclaim Christ’s Gospel on radio in 1993 to 1995. In 1995 I began what is now called the Tomorrow’s World television program. And for the past 15 years this Work has been broadcasting in nations scattered around the world. We have been on nearly 600 TV stations off and on through these years. And we are presently airing the telecast on more than 300 TV stations, plus thousands of cable systems serving thousands of communities.
We are proclaiming the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ—the Good News of the soon-coming Kingdom of God, and the whole way of life taught by God’s Word, the Holy Bible—a book of life for all those who find it, study it and live it. We are trying to help all who care—and dare!—to find what the Bible describes as the “pearl of great price” (Matthew 13:46). We know many are searching for this pearl. We sincerely hope you are among them. Since this present phase of God’s Work began, we have added more than one million individuals to our mailing list, and we thank you for being among them. Just since the beginning of this year, we have added 140,000 new subscribers in countries around the world. Thousands are being added every week, and we will do all we can, with God’s help, to help them find “the pearl of great price.”
We are a small Work, and by the blessings of God Almighty we are doing a significant job preparing this world for the earth-shaking events soon to come. Jesus Christ declared “…many are called, but few chosen” (Matthew 20:16). He taught “…narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:14). We are doing all we can to help you and everyone else to “enter by the narrow gate” as Jesus describes in Matthew 7:13.
In order to reach more people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, on December 5 we plan to switch over the Tomorrow’s World television program from the ION Network on Wednesday mornings to the prestigious Discovery Channel on Sunday mornings. Our telecast time on the Discovery Channel will be 6:30 a.m. Eastern Time and Pacific Time. The Discovery Channel can be seen by nearly 100 million households, and we surely hope you can see us on the Discovery Channel yourself. This is an exciting move forward for the Tomorrow’s World telecast!
As small as we are, and relatively unknown as yet, the Tomorrow’s World telecast has now been seen by more than 22 million households in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Australasia, the United Kingdom, Western Europe, South Africa and other countries around the world. Moreover, all of the Tomorrow’s World telecasts can be viewed on the Internet at www.TomorrowsWorld.org any day of the week, 24 hours a day. What a world we live in! Virtually anyone in the world, wherever the government does not control the Internet, can watch Tomorrow’s World TV programs.
So far this year, we have sent out 2 million magazine copies around the world. In addition, we have mailed out more than a half-million booklets, reprint articles, Bible lessons, CDs, DVDs and other Bible-centered publications. Since this present Work began, we have mailed out nearly 18 million publications. And the telecast, according to our latest statistics, has been viewed now by as many as 55 million men, women and children. So, as small as we are, a great Work is being accomplished. Thank you for being a part of us! And if you are so inclined, your prayers and support for God’s Work are most appreciated, which brings blessings to you and this Work. Thank you! All of our publications, as we always say, are totally free of charge, and we never ask the public for money. This is a Work of faith.
Dear friends and subscribers, we do sincerely want to help you have a good life today plus eternal life in Tomorrow’s World! How can you do this? How can you be helped through this Work of God to carry on successfully during the terrible economic trials, the military and political upheavals and the personal trials and sicknesses which come upon all of us in this life? The answer is not complicated! For God tells us in His Word, “For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Many times in the Bible, God indicates that He is a “rewarder” of those who diligently seek Him—as the above verse clearly states. So you must—hopefully with our help and encouragement—come to believe in the real God and the real Jesus Christ of the Bible. You must prove to yourself that God is real and that He says what He means and means what He says in the Bible. Notice another quote from the inspired book of Hebrews in your Bible. Speaking to those who truly believe in God, He says, “‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” (Hebrews 13:5-6).
Again, God tells us through the inspired writings of the Apostle Paul, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). So even though many kinds of trials and tests come upon the true Christian, God promises to make it “work for good.” And we must learn to believe in that solemn promise from our Creator through His inspired Word!
If you will truly surrender your heart, mind and life to God, if you will try with all your heart to be a genuine “overcomer” and so prepare yourself to be among those kings and priests Christ is training for service in Tomorrow’s World, you will be blessed immeasurably. For you will truly understand—beyond all other human beings—the real meaning of life. And you will be preparing yourself for the ultimate purpose of life. Your Father in heaven will guide you, encourage you, protect you and deliver you during the coming Great Tribulation and other trials at the end of this age. As He promises, He will “never leave you nor forsake you.” May God help you to “step out in faith” and give your life to your Creator and fulfill His purpose. And may He help you come to recognize that you will nowhere else find more about His ultimate purpose than through this very Work—the telecasts and publications of Tomorrow’s World!
As we look toward Tomorrow’s World, we realize that it has to “get darkest just before the dawn.” As we see the world-shaking events which God prophesied come to pass, even these events give us hope when we can see that God Almighty is intervening in human affairs. Jesus Christ Himself said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).
