Living Church of God

Church News: 2012

This week at the office December 27, 2012

This past weekend, we had a very positive series of events to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Global/Living Church of God and Mr. Meredith’s 60th year as an Evangelist in the Church of God. More than 550 brethren heard Mr. Meredith’s message on the Sabbath and several hundred attended Bible studies by Mr. Ames and Dr. Winnail. Many also enjoyed the social and athletic activities on Sunday and seminars on Monday that focused on Teens, Singles and Marriage. This week Mr. Meredith has conducted a number of meetings. We are pleased to have Mr. and Mrs. Etienne Duval from Martinique visiting the office this week; as well as Mr. and Mrs. Adam West, who are spending a few days at Headquarters before their move to the United Kingdom. Last week’s Tomorrow’s World program by Mr. Ames, entitled “Christmas: The Missing Message,” is expected to generate more than 5,000 responses. Mr. Mario Hernandez was in Guatemala this week for a Youth Camp and will be in Mexico City for the Sabbath. Dr. Wil Pierre is back in Charlotte after a very profitable visit to the French-speaking Caribbean. Dr. Scott Winnail will spend this Sabbath in Barbados on his return trip from Guyana and Brazil. I will be in Kansas City this coming weekend for their Winter Weekend. Living University registration for second semester classes is currently underway. You can consult the LU website, www.livinguniv.com, for information on classes being offered.

While much of the world is preparing for a festive holiday season and others are waiting for the world to end along with the Mayan calendar, Americans are searching for causes and solutions to the ongoing series of mass killings that seems to be plaguing the nation. The “peace on earth” that so many long for simply isn’t happening—in America, in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia or South America. What the world really needs is the return of Jesus Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom. This weekend we are looking forward to welcoming more than 600 brethren who will attend the 20th Anniversary activities here in Charlotte. Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. Mr. Ames and Mr. Wallace Smith taped new Tomorrow’s World programs. Last weekend, Mr. Meredith’s Tomorrow’s World program on “Answered Prayer” drew more than 5,000 responses. Living University classes end this week, and registration for next semester classes is underway. This weekend, Dr. Scott Winnail and Mr. and Mrs. Greeman are visiting brethren in Brazil. Dr. and Mrs. Wil Pierre are in the Caribbean for  Church visits. Mr. Bruce Tyler and Mr. Dayrell Tanner are in the Philippines for a Church visit and to work on matters related to our operations in the Philippines. Please keep all these efforts to serve God’s people in your prayers.

As 2012 nears its end, dramatic events continue to erupt on the world scene. In the Middle East, fundamentalist Muslim forces are pushing for more power in Syria and Egypt and bringing more pressure on Israel. A missile launch by North Korea creates a significant threat against allies of the United States in that region. More changes in Europe appear to be coming, while America and other Israelite nations struggle with major internal problems. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been holding meetings and has written another co-worker letter. Mr. Ames’ recent Tomorrow’s World program, entitled “Vital Keys for Bible Study,” drew 7,873 responses. Mr. Wallace Smith’s program last weekend, entitled “Prophets and Pretenders,” is expected to draw nearly 6,000 responses. Dr. Wil Pierre is currently visiting congregations in the French-speaking Caribbean, and Dr. Scott Winnail will be visiting congregations in Trinidad, Guyana and Brazil this coming week. Mr. Rod King has returned safely to the UK after making Tomorrow’s World Presentations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Lagos, Nigeria. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Meredith have returned to the USA from Israel after finalizing Feast plans for 2013. Registration for Living University classes is underway. Please refer to the announcement below for classes being offered.

Just as the ancient Roman Senate was hopelessly divided in the days before the downfall of the Republic, American lawmakers in Washington seem hopelessly locked in a major struggle over money that threatens the future of the American Republic. Elsewhere in the world, suffering continues. This week a major typhoon tore through the Philippines, killing hundreds and causing untold damage and suffering . In Egypt, attempts by the Muslim Brotherhood to take control of the country have led to violent confrontations between the government and large segments of the population. The so-called “Arab Spring” has launched important events that will probably lead to the emergence of the long-prophesied King of the South. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has held a number of meetings this week. Mr. Meredith’s recent program entitled “What Happens after Death?” drew more than 6,235 responses. Mr. Ames’ program last week, “Vital Keys to Bible Study,” should draw more than 6,800 responses. Tomorrow’s World Presentations last weekend in the Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania drew more than 200 visitors. This weekend, Mr. Rod King will make TWPs in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Lagos, Nigeria. Mr. Sheldon Monson will do a follow-up presentation in the Harrisburg area. Please pray that God will continue to bless these important efforts to preach the Gospel.

Last week, Americans celebrated Thanksgiving, while the worst U.S. drought in decades parched 60 percent of the country and heavy rains and flooding ravaged much of the UK. In the Middle East, Egypt is once again divided by internal strife, and millions of people displaced by the violence face food shortages and suffering as winter weather arrives. On the other side of the world, China has launched a new aircraft carrier and a prototype stealth fighter in a bid to become the leading naval power in Asia. The warning signs that Jesus listed in Matthew 24 are becoming more evident every day. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith held a number of meetings this week. Tomorrow’s World television programs over the last two weekends have drawn very good responses. Mr. King’s program, “Revelation Unveiled,” received 6,131 responses, and Mr. Ames’ program, “The Prophesied Beast,” received more than 7,000 responses. Dr. Wil Pierre will make a TWP in the Dominican Republic. I will be in the Harrisburg, PA, area for services and a TWP.

This week we completed a very positive and productive three-day Council of Elders meeting. Regional Directors and Regional Pastors gave reports about the growth of the Work and issues facing the Church in their areas. Mr. Meredith began the meetings emphasizing the importance of staying close to God and being faithful to God’s Truth and loyal to God’s established leadership. He then led discussions about a number of doctrinal issues and how to do the Work more effectively. Dr. Germano provided an update on Living University, and we discussed future plans for Tomorrow’s World Presentations, next year’s Feast of Tabernacles and future manpower needs. Mr. Meredith concluded the meetings with comments about preparing God’s people for His Kingdom. We were very grateful for the strong sense of unity and purpose that pervaded the meetings. Last week’s Tomorrow’s World telecast, entitled “Revelation Unveiled,” by Mr. Rod King is expected to draw more than 6,000 responses. The Tomorrow’s World Presentations last weekend in Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa, Florida and Bangor, Maine drew 182 visitors. Mr. John Strain will conduct follow-up presentations this weekend in Florida on the subject of “Where Is the Church Christ Built?” Your prayers for these efforts to preach the Gospel and for God’s people are greatly appreciated.

America’s re-elected President will lead a divided nation that just experienced a major storm disaster in the Northeast, is struggling with the effects of an extended drought in the central plains and is staring at a “financial storm” that could inflict serious damage in the coming months. Bible prophecies that warn of the consequences of defying the laws of God are coming to pass in our nations and on the world scene. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith is writing and holding meetings and we are formulating plans for the coming year. Last weekend’s telecast by Mr. Wallace Smith, entitled “Doomsday in 2012?,” is expected to draw more than 7,520 responses. The Tomorrow’s World presentations in Minneapolis and East Texas drew a total of nearly 180 new people. This coming weekend, I will be in Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to make TWSPs and the pre-registrations look very positive. We have a Living University board meeting tomorrow morning (Friday) and a Council of Elders meeting scheduled for next week (Monday through Wednesday). Your prayers for these important activities are needed and will be greatly appreciated.

The northeastern portions of the United States and Canada are surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. The devastation caused by this huge storm is described as “enormousstaggeringcatastrophictowns battered beyond recognition”—and the monetary cost could exceed $50 billion (U.S.)! Reports from our ministers in the affected areas indicate that our brethren fared pretty well during this disaster. Today we are seeing more and more events of truly biblical proportions! Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing. Mr. Ames is filming a new television program today. Mr. Hernandez has returned from an extended trip visiting brethren in seven Central and South American countries. Last week’s Tomorrow’s World program by Mr. Wallace Smith entitled “Doomsday in 2012?” is expected to draw more than 7,300 responses. The Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in Ontario, Minnesota, Iowa and East Texas were very encouraging and drew more than 220 visitors. Follow-up presentations are scheduled this coming weekend in Ontario, Minnesota and East Texas.   Mr. Rod King reports that he is planning TWSPs in Ethiopia and Nigeria for the weekend of December 8-9 of this year. Your prayers will be appreciated for these presentations and for the people in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

The fall weather and autumn colors have been beautiful here in North Carolina. The American presidential election campaign is building to a crescendo while turmoil spreads in the Middle East, and Europe appears to be coming apart. Positive reports are still coming in about the Feast this year that was attended by more than 9,130 brethren at 50 sites in 32 countries around the world.  Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has written a semi-annual letter that will be mailed to more than 370,000 subscribers. He will also tape another new Tomorrow’s World program. Mr. Wallace Smith is in Charlotte this week to tape new programs. Last week’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Ames, “Seven Keys to Answered Prayer,” is expected to draw more than 7,400 responses. This weekend we have seven Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations scheduled: in Mississauga, Ontario; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Tyler and Lufkin, Texas; and Dubuque and Davenport, Iowa. Your prayers for these efforts to preach the Gospel to a suffering world are needed and greatly appreciated.

It has been very encouraging to read the very positive reports about the Feast of Tabernacles coming in from around the world. Many have indicated that this was the best Feast they have ever attended. Sermons were inspiring, the fellowship was warm and in most cases the weather was extremely pleasant. God certainly blessed the Feast this year! Mr. and Mrs. Meredith were in Virginia Beach for the Feast. Mrs. Meredith is feeling better and stronger. Here in Charlotte, we are getting back into our regular routines. Mr. Meredith has been writing this week, and he has completed a co-worker letter that is being mailed to more than 12,000 individuals worldwide. It was also very encouraging to see that the responses to the Tomorrow’s World television programs that aired during the Fall Holy Days were well above 5,000 for all programs. Mr. Ames’ program, entitled “Revelation: The Mystery Unveiled,” drew 7,501 responses. Your prayers will be appreciated for Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in Peterborough and Kingston, Ontario; and Dubuque and Davenport, Iowa, this weekend.

The Fall Holy Days got off to a very positive start with the Feast of Trumpets this past Monday. We are looking forward to observing the Day of Atonement next Wednesday and then the Feast of Tabernacles that pictures the coming Kingdom of God and the Last Great Day. These Fall Holy Days remind us annually of the final phase of God’s great Plan of Salvation for all of mankind. As we head to the Feast, it is sobering to note that events in the Middle East continue to develop in a threatening way. This week, Mr. Meredith recorded another new Tomorrow’s World television program. Last week’s program, entitled “Seven Signs of the Antichrist,” by Mr. Wallace Smith, broke all previous records, drawing in 8,779 responses. Mr. and Mrs. Ames left this morning for New Zealand and Australia where they will spend the first part of the Feast before flying on to Hawaii where they will end the Feast. Let’s all pray that God will bless the Festival sites around the world with pleasant weather, inspiring messages, warm fellowship and safe travel. Please note the announcements below pertaining to the Feast. This will be the last issue of The World Ahead until after the Feast.

Next Monday will begin the Fall Festival season. These Holy Days picture the fact that the Almighty God has a plan that He is working out on this earth and that Jesus Christ is preparing to return to this earth and bring the peace and joy that peoples of this world so desperately desire. In Europe, pressures are building for deeper political and economic integration. Religious extremists are pushing events in the Islamic world, and America seems to face one problem after another—at home and abroad.  Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith made another new television program this week. He has also been writing and holding meetings. The September Co-Worker letter was mailed this week to more than 11,000 recipients. Mr. Ames returned safely from Toronto where he recorded three new television programs. Last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Ames, entitled “The Coming Day of the Lord,” is expected to generate about 6,400 responses. Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield will be in Toronto for the Feast of Trumpets weekend and also to visit the Canadian office. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Meredith will be in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida congregation for the weekend, and Mr. and Mrs. Rod McNair will visit the Raleigh, North Carolina congregation on Trumpets. I will make church visits in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Marshall, Michigan over the weekend. Please pray that God will bless the Holy Days and inspire the messages that will be given, as well as the travel and the fellowship that will involve all of God’s people.

Over the last week or so, a number of earthquakes measuring over 7.0 have shaken parts of the world—the east coast of the Philippines, El Salvador, Guatemala and Costa Rica—in addition to numerous smaller quakes that rattled southern California. These regions lie along the “Ring of Fire” that circles the Pacific Ocean. In America, the fireworks of the presidential campaign continue, as Europe struggles with its economic crises and the Middle East threatens to explode. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith and Mr. Ames recorded new television programs this week. Last week’s program by Mr. Meredith, entitled “How to Watch World Events,” is expected to draw about 5,400 responses. This week we held a reception for on-campus students of Living University here in Charlotte, and we were able to conduct an online student assembly that also included on-campus students in Australia. This Sunday, Mr. Rod King will conduct a planning meeting in France for our European ministry. Mr. Ames plans to fly to Toronto next week to tape three programs for our Hong Kong telecast edition. As world events continue to move toward the climactic end of this age, please continue to pray for God’s Work and for His people.

While the U.S. presidential campaign dominates much of the news, Hurricane Isaac is winding up its rain-drenched path through the Caribbean and is battering the gulf coast of Mississippi and Louisiana—seven years to the day after Hurricane Katrina devastated that same area. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings and he conducted a Council of Elders teleconference this afternoon. Yesterday, Mr. Davy Crockett conducted the funeral here in Charlotte for Mr. Wayne Pyle who died after a two-year battle with cancer. Mr. Hernandez and Dr. Wil Pierre have returned from a very inspiring and profitable visit with brethren in the Caribbean. I had a very encouraging trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico for services and a Tomorrow's World Special Presentation.

World events continue to move in the direction of fulfilling long-standing Bible prophecies. The European Union appears to be on the edge of coming apart, the Middle East seems ready to explode and America is in deep trouble economically and is facing a critical election. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. Mr. Rod King is here to tape a television program and a sermon. Responses to last week’s Tomorrow’s World program entitled, “The Prophesied Beast,” presented by Mr. Richard Ames, are expected to exceed 6,000. Living University classes are under way with about 230 students enrolled for this semester. This is the highest enrollment we have had since the University started. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Meredith and I had a very encouraging visit last week with more than 220 campers and staff at the Living Youth Camp in Columbus, Ohio. God certainly blessed the activities and the weather for the two-week period of camp. Photos and videos of the camp can be viewed on the Internet. Last weekend, more than 150 visitors attended Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in Arkansas and Winnipeg, Canada. This weekend, Mr. Gene Hilgenberg will make follow-up presentations in Arkansas, and I will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a Sabbath service and a TWSP. Mr. Hernandez and Dr. Pierre are currently visiting congregations in the French-speaking Caribbean and will conduct a TWSP in Guadeloupe. Your prayers for all these endeavors are much appreciated.

The nation of Israel is taking the threat of attack from Iran seriously.  The Israeli government this week began testing a new SMS (cell phone texting) early warning system, to alert the public in the event of a missile attack.  Be sure to read Dr. Meredith’s powerful co-worker letter—being sent out today to more than 11,000 co-workers—with more details about the growing threat of war in the Middle East.  We are in momentous times!  In the meantime, we must do our Father’s Work, while we yet have time.  At least 5,500 responses came in last week for the telecast by Dr. Meredith, entitled, “Answered Prayer.”  Two new Living University students arrived on campus this week, and have been getting to know the staff and settling in.  Last week two Tomorrow’s World Special Presentationswere delivered, with a total of 48 visitors, and four are scheduled for this week.  Dr. Douglas Winnail is visiting the Teen Camp in Ohio, along with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Meredith.  The camp is going very well this year . Feast of Tabernacles speaking schedules are now being sent out, in preparation for the Feast of Tabernacles—which is just a little over six weeks away!

It appears that Satan is becoming increasingly active in this deceived and dying world. Tragic shootings, the promotion of perverted values, demon activity, increasingly disruptive weather conditions, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, fires, nations coming apart—the end-time prophecies in Matthew 24 and other scriptures are certainly coming alive! This world needs to hear the Good News that Jesus Christ brought to this earth and that God’s Church is striving to proclaim in ever more powerful ways. This week, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. Last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Wallace Smith, entitled “Diagnosis: Christianity,” drew more than 5,000 responses. Teen summer camps began this week in England and Ohio. Mr. Hernandez has returned from visiting congregations in France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. I got back last Thursday from very encouraging visits to congregations in New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and the Philippines. This weekend, Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations will be held in Concord, New Hampshire and Gatineau, Quebec. Living University classes will begin next Wednesday, August 15.

Extreme weather continues to make the news. Tens of thousands of people are homeless and 88 dead in North Korea after horrific floods this month devastated villages and farmland. In contrast, severe drought in the American plains—with no end in sight—is now causing half of all U.S. counties to be considered “disaster areas” by the federal government. As Dr. Meredith continually admonishes us in this Work, it is time for our people—and for all of us—to “wake up!”

God’s Work continues to thunder out that warning message, as well as the encouraging good news that Christ will soon come again! Mr. Pyle reports that he expects about 4,400 respondents to this week’s telecast by Mr. Ames, “Five Ways to Improve Your Marriage.” And 127 new visitors personally attended Tomorrow’s World Special Presentationson three different continents last week. Dr. Douglas Winnail reports that the final leg of his Australasian trip—visiting in Manila and in Mindanao to meet ministers, brethren, and new visitors—has been a real success. He is heading home for Charlotte today. As the Work surges forward, let us all remember to pray for one another, especially those suffering health trials, and to pray for those traveling in service of God and His people.

As August approaches, violence and brutality are certainly heating up around the world.  Besides the tragic massacre in Colorado, more than a hundred people are being killed every day in an all-out civil war in Syria, and recently 500 villages were burned in ethnic violence in Northeast India.  What a privilege it is to know God’s solution for this sick and war-torn world--that there is a solution--and we will soon be rehearsing that merciful plan during the Fall Holy Days!

Meanwhile, the Work continues to move forward...  Last week’s telecast, “What Happens After Death?” is expected to bring in more than 5,000 calls.  This week, Dr. Meredith has been busy making phone calls and conducting meetings, and Mr. Ames recorded a new telecast as well.  The Adventure Camp was a great success and was blessed with God’s intervention, as you can see from the report below. Dr. Douglas Winnail is leaving Malaysia and heading for the Philippines to meet with brethren and conduct a Tomorrow’s World Special Presentationin Manila on the Sabbath.  He will join Mr. Bruce Tyler, Mr. Dayrell Tanner, and the Filipino ministry next week for ministerial meetings in Manila.  Last week, ten presentations were conducted in five countries: Australia, Malaysia, U.K., Canada, and the United States.  Thank you to all of our ministers and brethren who are making these local events such a successful part of this truly global Work!

The drought in the Midwest--the “worst in half a century”--has not only not lessened this week, but actually worsened in Nebraska, Illinois and Iowa.  At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people are still homeless after horrific flooding in Japan and China.  Truly, “extreme” weather is becoming the “new normal”!  This is not a surprise, of course, to those who closely watch God’s prophecies of how He will dramatically intervene in the weather at the close of this age.

It’s been another busy week in the Work!  Mr. Ames completed July’s co-worker letter, which was mailed out earlier this week.  As this week drew to a close, the Glacier Park, Montana, Adventure Camp wrapped up--we look forward to passing on reports next week.  Last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World telecast is expected to draw 4,100 responses.  Mr. and Mrs. Simon Roberts began their two-week visit in Charlotte this week, spending time with Dr. Meredith and meeting other Headquarters staff.  They are en route to the United Kingdom, where Mr. Roberts will begin training for the ministry. Dr. Winnail is now in Adelaide, Australia, after delivering a Tomorrow’s World Special Presentationin Auckland, New Zealand.  Mr. Mario Hernandez is travelling in Europe this week and will be in Switzerland this Sabbath.  Two hundred and twenty-nine guests attended TWSPs last weekend, and eight presentations are scheduled for this weekend.  Please continue to pray that God would guide those He calls to help in this great Work!

Severe weather continues to make news in various parts of the world. In the American Midwest, spreading drought conditions could significantly reduce crop yields this year, while in England rains and flooding have created problems for many. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. Mr. Ames is currently working on a co-worker letter and this morning spoke to the office staff about the importance of working together in a Godly professional manner to accomplish our mission. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Ames, entitled, “Can You Trust Bible Prophecy?,” is expected to draw about 4,400 responses. Last weekend, 66 visitors attended the Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in Oklahoma and New York. This coming weekend we have 11 more TWSPs scheduled in the USA and Canada. I will leave tomorrow for Sabbath services in the Los Angeles area and then head for New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia and the Philippines where we will conduct four TWSPs and two Regional Conferences. Your prayers for these efforts to preach the gospel and for the needs of God’s people are needed and appreciated.

Storms, drought and fires continue to make news across the United States, while the winds of significant prophetic changes continue to swirl in the Middle East and Europe. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith held meetings and is working on his autobiography. We expect about 4,200 responses to last weekend’s telecast by Mr. Meredith, entitled, “Will You Overcome Satan?” Regional Pastor Armando Orrego and his wife had a very profitable visit with brethren in Peru. We are very encouraged to report that the income for the first six months of 2012 is running about 2% above budget and about 6% over last year--for which we are very grateful. This coming weekend we have nine more Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations scheduled in Canada, UK and USA. I will be in Oklahoma for services and two TWSPs. This coming week, Mr. Sheldon Monson will lead the Living Youth Adventure Program in Glacier National Park, Montana. Your prayers for these activities will be appreciated.

Record high temperatures and high winds continue to fan fires in western states of the USA. In Colorado, a raging fire near Colorado Springs has forced 30,000 to flee their homes. Viewing the smoke and flames, the governor of Colorado said, “It’s almost surreal... it’s like nothing I’ve seen before.” Also this week, heavy rains caused flooding in Florida, and sectarian riots have destroyed 22 villages in the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and also taped the Last Great Day sermon. Mr. Ames taped segments for the “Behind the Work” Feast film for 2012. Dr. Scott Winnail is visiting congregations in Barbados and Trinidad. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World telecast entitled “A World in Crisis” by Mr. Wallace Smith is expected to draw more than 4,100 responses. Last weekend, I had a pleasant and profitable visit with our congregation in Kansas City, and nearly 130 visitors attended Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in the UK, Canada and the USA. Six more TWSPs are scheduled for this coming weekend.

Prophetically significant events appear to be building in Europe and the Middle East. At the end of June, EU leaders will hold a summit meeting that could launch a core of European countries on the path to financial and political union--setting the stage for the king of the North to emerge. In Egypt, after a show of strength in the recent contested election, the Muslim Brotherhood is pushing to gain control of the most populous country with the biggest army in the Middle East. The emergence of a fundamentalist Islamic government in Egypt could bring together other Islamic nations across North Africa and the Middle East and facilitate the emergence of the king of the South spoken of by Daniel (Daniel 11:40). This could be an interesting summer! Here in Charlotte, we mailed out more than 12,000 co-worker letters this week. Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Ames, entitled “Vital Keys to Bible Study,” is expected to draw more than 5,200 responses. Also last weekend, more than 150 visitors attended the 10 Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations that were held in the USA, Canada and the UK. This weekend there will be 11 more TWSPs in the same countries. So far this year, we have had nearly 80 TWSPs that have been attended by more than 2,200 visitors. Your prayers for all these vital activities for preaching the gospel are needed and much appreciated.

Fires continue to burn this week in five western U.S. states, including the largest fire in the history of the state of New Mexico. In the Middle East, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake shook eastern Turkey, and in Europe, the ongoing financial crisis is generating more calls for greater integration and even a political union--all of which fits into Bible prophecies. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been holding meetings, and has completed another co-worker letter. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last weekend’s telecast by Mr. Meredith, entitled “Christ Will Return Soon,” is expected to generate more than 3,400 responses. Mr. Ames has returned from a church visit and making a Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation in San Diego which drew 51 visitors. Mr. Rod McNair’s TWSPs in Thomasville, Georgia and Lake City, Florida drew 33 and 22 visitors respectively. In the London area, Mr. King’s TWSP drew 65 visitors. In Canada, 38 visitors attended TWSPs last weekend. This coming weekend there will be ten more TWSPs in Canada, the UK and the USA. Registration for Fall Semester classes with Living University will begin on July 1.

Events in Europe should prove interesting to watch in the weeks ahead as EU nations struggle to deal with a growing financial crisis that could destroy the common currency (the euro) or be used to promote a closer fiscal union and even some sort of a political union. In contrast to Europe’s attempts to form a workable trans-national government, last weekend’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the UK marked Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years on a throne that has endured for centuries. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. On Wednesday, he spoke to the Headquarters staff about the importance of staying close to God and firmly focused on our mission of reaching the world with a message of warning and hope. We have also received some encouraging reports about our international media efforts. Last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Rod King entitled “Jerusalem: City of Peace” is expected to draw more than 3,200 responses. This weekend, eight Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations will be conducted around the world: Mr. Ames in San Diego, Mr. King in the London area, Mr. Weston doing two in Alberta, Canada, Mr. Yvon Brochu doing two in Quebec, and Mr. Rod McNair in Thomasville, Georgia and Lake City, Florida. Pre-teen Camps will be held next week in Missouri and Texas. Your prayers for all these activities and for brethren who need God’s intervention in their lives will be deeply appreciated.

Weather conditions are again making news.  Tropical storms have drenched the southeastern coast of the United States and coastal areas of Mexico.  Drought conditions, lightning and high winds have spawned wildfires in New Mexico, Colorado and southern California.  Several earthquakes rattled towns in northern Italy as public disclosures of corruption and power struggles in the Vatican made headlines around the world.  Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings.  Reports from around the world indicate that Pentecost was a very encouraging Holy Day for God’s people.  One of our pastors described several healings that occurred in his congregation over the weekend.  Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World television program entitled “The Sabbath Controversy” should draw more than 4,500 responses.  Mr. and Mrs. Ames are due back in Charlotte after congregational visits and Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in western Canada.  Dr. Scott Winnail will be in Jamaica this weekend for services and board meetings.

As we observe the Day of Pentecost this weekend, it will be good to contemplate how different this world will be when Jesus Christ returns and the Spirit of God begins to permeate the minds and guide the actions of human beings on this earth. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World telecast by Mr. Meredith entitled “Does God Heal Today?” resulted in over 200 requests for anointed cloths and should draw more than 4,200 responses to the program. Last weekend, the Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in Jacksonville and Ocala, Florida, on the theme of “The Gathering Storm” drew 61 very interested visitors. Mr. Joe Brown will do follow-up presentations this Sabbath in Jacksonville and the following Sabbath in Ocala. So far this year, we have conducted 49 TWSPs that have drawn nearly 1,700 visitors, and we are currently scheduled to make more than 150 presentations around the world in 2012. Mr. and Mrs. Ames will travel to Calgary and Edmonton, Canada for Pentecost, Mr. Mario Hernandez will be in Quebec, and I will be in Tampa and Ft Lauderdale. Please pray that God will richly bless His people and these efforts to do His Work.

On the world scene, the economic crisis in Europe--and the threat of the European Union fracturing with the departure or expelling of Greece--could cause a financial earthquake that would reverberate around the world. As the world teeters on the brink of global financial chaos, America is preoccupied with election-year politics and the volatile issue of same-sex marriage. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and holding meetings. His latest semi-annual letter is being mailed this week to more than 300,000 people. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World telecast entitled “Doomsday in 2012?” drew more than 4,300 responses--which is down a bit due to Mother’s Day in the USA. Mr. Rod King reports that his Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation last week in Manchester, England entitled “Our Royal Future” drew 34 new people. This coming weekend I will be in Jacksonville and Ocala, Florida to do TWSPs on the theme, “The Gathering Storm.

The big news locally is that North Carolina became the 31st state to define in its constitution that marriage must be between a man and a woman, in spite of heavy lobbying by politicians, the media and even some ministers to defeat this constitutional amendment. The current U.S. President found this decision by more than 60% of voters “disappointing” in light of the fact that the Democratic National Convention will be held in Charlotte, NC this fall. Elections in France and Greece appear to indicate that European unity is headed for rocky times. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has finished a semi-annual letter that will be mailed next week.  Mr. Ames’ Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations last weekend in New York City drew nearly 300 visitors, and his Tomorrow’s World program entitled, “Beyond World War III” drew more than 4,800 responses.

We have just completed a truly inspiring Ministerial Conference here in Charlotte. Mr. Meredith opened each day of the conference and provided informative comments throughout the meetings. During the three-day conference, over 270 ministers and wives heard encouraging reports from Regional Directors around the world in addition to presentations on prophecy, doctrinal issues, mission of the ministry, guidelines for preaching, marriage, working with youth, utilizing modern technology, and other topics related to the ministry. One of the highlights was the Living University graduation held on the first day of the conference. Many commented on the warm fellowship, the balance and sense of direction, the enthusiasm and unity and the practical information covered in each session. It has been very encouraging to hear the many positive comments on the conference and to see the unity and dedication that was clearly evident among everyone who gathered in Charlotte this week. This coming weekend, Mr. Ames will make back-to-back Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations in New York City. On Saturday he will present The Gathering Storm and on Sunday he will address the question, Where Is the Church Christ Built? Your prayers for these presentations and for God’s people are needed and will be appreciated.

Weather made news again this week in the northeastern portion of the USA with a spring storm that dumped snow and rain over several states and high winds knocked out power to many areas. Here in Charlotte, we have been preparing for a Council of Elders meeting on Thursday and Friday of this week and the Ministerial Conference next Monday through Wednesday. Mr. Meredith held a number of meetings this week. Mr. Mario Hernandez has returned from a very profitable trip to South America. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World program, “Prophecy and You,” presented by Mr. Rod King, should generate more than 5,100 responses. The Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation last Sunday in Harrison, Arkansas by Mr. Rod McNair drew 19 visitors. The TWSP that I made in Front Royal, Virginia drew 42 visitors on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Please pray for the safety of everyone traveling to and from Charlotte for the Council meetings and the Ministerial Conference. Also, please pray for those who are in need of healing and God’s intervention in their lives.

This has been a busy, productive and encouraging week on many fronts. We were very glad to hear from ministers in the Midwest that no brethren were hurt by the tornadoes which hit that area over the weekend. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has conducted a number of meetings and written a co-worker letter that was mailed to more than 10,000 recipients. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that with a strong response from the new ION network, last week’s Tomorrow’s World program by Mr. Ames entitled “2012 and the Apocalypse” should generate well over 6,000 responses. Mr. and Mrs. Ames were in Toronto, Canada for the Last Day of Unleavened Bread and stayed over for several days so Mr. Ames could tape several programs for the new television station in Hong Kong. Dr. and Mrs. Wil Pierre have returned from very profitable visits to congregations in Haiti and Martinique. This coming weekend, Mr. Rod McNair will be in Joplin, Missouri for services and then he will make a Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation in Harrison, Arkansas on Sunday. I will be in Baltimore, Maryland for services and then do a TWSP in Front Royal, Virginia on Sunday. Members of the Council of Elders will be in Charlotte for meetings next Thursday and Friday, and the general Ministerial Conference will be held here from Monday to Wednesday, April 30-May 2. Please pray that God will guide and bless these meetings and activities as we strive to do His Work.

During the Spring Holy Days we have the unique opportunity to rehearse again the initial steps in God’s Great Plan of Salvation for mankind and to be reminded of God’s gift of forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins. As we examine ourselves to identify and eliminate sins, we are--as the bride of Christ--being made ready for the long-anticipated “marriage of the Lamb” mentioned in Revelation 19:7.

Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has held a number of meetings. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World telecast by Mr. Wallace Smith, entitled “Your Incredible Future,” is expected to draw more than 3,700 responses. Mr. Rand Millich’s follow-up Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations last weekend in Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa on the subject of “Where Is the Church Christ Built?” drew 46 visitors. Mr. Jack Lowe made the same follow-up presentation in Atlanta, drawing 14 visitors. This coming weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Ames will be in Anderson and Greenville, South Carolina for the Passover and the first Day of Unleavened Bread; Dr. and Mrs. Will Pierre will be in Haiti and Martinique; Mr. and Mrs. James Meredith will be in the Tampa, Florida area and I will be in Kingston, New York for a combined church observance of the Passover and the first Day of UB. Please pray that God will richly bless His people in the days just ahead.

Last weekend produced very encouraging responses to five Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations. More than 300 visitors attended presentations held in Dallas, Atlanta, Omaha, Des Moines and Trinidad. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith held a pre-Passover staff meeting on Wednesday and encouraged all the office employees to function smoothly together as a team as we strive to do God’s Work and to prepare for the challenges ahead. Mr. Meredith also announced that we will go on the ION television network in a few weeks, which will greatly expand our coverage of major cities in the United States. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World television program by Mr. Ames, entitled “Seven Keys to Answered Prayer,” has already topped more than 5,200 responses, one of our best responses for the booklet Twelve Keys to Answered Prayer. Today, Mr. Ames taped another new program, entitled “Can You Trust Bible Prophecy?” This coming weekend, Mr. Rand Millich will do follow-up TWSPs in Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa, and Mr. Jack Lowe will do a follow-up TWSP in Atlanta, Georgia. Please keep these exciting activities and the needs of God’s people in your prayers.

This week, violence and weather continue to make news. In France, a series of tragic drive-by shootings claimed multiple lives; Anchorage, Alaska reports nearly eleven feet of snow this winter (nearly twice the historical average); the “lower 48 states” have experienced twice the normal number of tornadoes in addition to record high temperatures; and Mexico City was hit by a 7.6 earthquake! As one news source said, “extreme events” are becoming more common--which is what Jesus predicted would happen as the end of the age approaches. Here in Charlotte, we are in the midst of our annual financial audit. Mr. Meredith has held meetings and taped a new Tomorrow’s World program, “What Happens After Death?” Mr. Wallace Smith is also here this week to tape two new programs: “Doomsday in 2012?” and “A World in Crisis!” Mr. Hernandez has returned from a very encouraging trip to visit members in Europe. Mr. Ames’ Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation in Dallas drew 90 visitors, and Dr. Scott Winnail’s follow-up presentation in Barbados drew 82 visitors. This weekend, Mr. Wallace Smith will make TWSPs on “The Gathering Storm” in Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa and I will be in Atlanta, Georgia for a TWSP on the same topic. Mr. Fitzroy Greeman will do a follow-up presentation in Trinidad on “Where Is the Church Christ Built?” Please keep these important efforts to preach the gospel and warn this world in your prayers.

While flooding continues in Southeast Australia and fires burn in Northwestern Spain, we are watching the first signs of Spring--leaves and flowering trees--appear in Charlotte. This week, Mr. Meredith has written a co-worker letter and chaired a profitable Council of Elders phone meeting. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that two weekends ago, Mr. Ames’ Tomorrow’s World television program, entitled “The Prophesied Beast,” broke all previous U.S.-Canada records for this topic by generating 5,933 responses. Last weekend, the response (2,357) to Mr. King’s program, “Is the Rapture Coming Soon?,” appears to have been impacted by the changeover to Daylight Saving Time. The Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations that I conducted in Barbados and Trinidad last weekend, entitled “The Gathering Storm” were very well attended. Mr. Ames will be in Dallas this Sabbath and Dr. Scott Winnail will be in Barbados to conduct TWSPs. Mr. Hernandez will speak in Brussels, Belgium this Sabbath and return to the U.S.A. on Sunday. We are saddened to report the recent deaths of three older elders, Mr. Evo Walker, Mr. Tom Gossett and Mr. Melecio Chico. Your prayers for the family and friends of these dedicated servants will be appreciated.

Mr. Meredith has held a number of meetings this week, and we are busily preparing for the upcoming Council of Elders meeting and Ministerial Conference that will be held in late April and early May. Mr. Lambert Greer reports that our members living in the areas of the U.S. hit by tornadoes this past week have been protected. I just spoke with Mr. Bruce Tyler, and he related that the Southeastern portion of Australia has received record-breaking rains that have caused severe flooding in the region. Mr. Mario Hernandez is scheduled to be in Geneva, Switzerland, this coming Sabbath. I will be in Barbados and Trinidad this weekend for services and to make Tomorrow’s World Special Presentations on the subject of “The Gathering Storm.”

School shootings and stabbings again made news this week in America, while deadly tornadoes hit the nation’s mid-section. On the world scene, one newsletter commented that “the mostly peaceful Arab Spring is now turning into a mostly violent Arab Winter” that international organizations like the U.N. are powerless to control. Bible prophecies, that “in the last days perilous times will come” (2 Timothy 3:1), are certainly coming true! Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has finished a TW article and a script for a new television program that he will tape tomorrow. Mr. Ames and Mr. King also taped new Tomorrow’s World programs today. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World program by Mr. Meredith entitled “Restoring Original Christianity” should draw about 3,900 responses. Mr. Ron Poole reports that the follow-up TWSP in Braselton, Georgia, was attended by 24 visitors. Mr. Mario Hernandez will be meeting with brethren in Lisbon, Portugal this Sabbath.

We are certainly living in dynamic times! The European financial crisis has opened old wounds and prejudices that are challenging the continent’s plans for closer unity. The Arab Spring revolutions have put the Middle East into a period of “constructive chaos” that begs for a leader to step into the vacuum, and America continues its moral decline.   Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has held meetings and is formulating his next television script. Mr. and Mrs. Ames have returned from a profitable Church visit in Joplin, Missouri. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that we received almost 4,000 responses to last weekend’s Tomorrow’s World program by Mr. Wallace Smith, entitled “Why Believe In God?,” and that the visit to the National Religious Broadcasters convention was very profitable. My visits with the Braselton and Atlanta, Georgia, congregations last weekend were very encouraging, and we had 46 visitors for the TWSP in Braselton. Mr. Ron Poole will make a follow-up presentation this coming weekend. Mr. Mario Hernandez left yesterday for visits with brethren and congregations in Europe. Mr. Armando Orrego, South America Area Pastor, also made recent visits to congregations in Peru. Your continued prayers for all these activities are important and appreciated.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pyle, Mr. Rod King and Mr. Gerald Weston will be attending the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, this coming weekend. I will be traveling to Braselton and Atlanta, Georgia, for services and a Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation in Braselton on Sunday.

Western so-called “Christian” nations are certainly under siege from anti-Christian forces. Numerous attempts are underway to promote the acceptance of Islamic Sharia law in Western Europe, Britain and America. Atheists want any reference to God eliminated in the public sphere, and homosexual activists are making ever more bold efforts to flaunt and promote their perverted lifestyle in the media, in schools and through legislative and judicial means. Adversaries are increasing and Sodom and Gomorrah are rising again from the ashes of the past--as Bible prophecies have long indicated--because our nations have turned away from God (see Deuteronomy 28:15-47; Isaiah 1:1-10).

Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and spoke to the office staff about the importance of our mission and the need to be able to adjust to changes that occur. His Tomorrow’s World telecast last weekend is expected to draw more than 4,200 responses. Dr. Scott Winnail reports that last weekend 27 visitors attended the follow-up Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation in Mandeville, Jamaica, entitled “Where Is God’s Church Today?” Mr. Ed Breaux presented a TWSP in Columbus, Mississippi, entitled “The Gathering Storm,” that was attended by 20 first-time visitors. On my most recent trip to Europe, I was able to spend Sabbaths with brethren in Geneva, Switzerland and Weert, Netherlands. In spite of train strikes, snow and very cold weather, Mr. Rod King and I were also able to conduct a short and profitable conference in Belgium with our French-speaking ministers. Please keep our scattered brethren, and those looking to God for His intervention, in your prayers.

Twenty-five European leaders agreed this week to a new--some say “historic”--pact to attempt to move them closer than ever to real fiscal union. Only time will tell how dramatically the steps we are witnessing now will lead to the rise of a new and powerful leader in Europe. Prophecy marches on!

Back home in Charlotte, it’s been another busy week.  Dr. Roderick C. Meredith held an office-wide staff meeting on Thursday, exhorting us to be “good soldiers of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3) and emphasizing that leaders focus on making a contribution, and take responsibility for results. This week also marked the inauguration of the first issue of the French Tomorrow’s World (Le Monde de Demain) magazine, at the present in an electronic-only version that will be published on www.MondeDemain.org in the coming daysAt a special reception at the office, Dr. Meredith and Mr. Mario Hernandez paid tribute to Mr. Dibar Apartian’s five-decades-long toil in the Work of God in French-speaking areas, laying the ground-work for the doors that are opening today.

Please remember Dr. Douglas Winnail’s European travels in your prayers. Rail strikes made several of his trains miss scheduled connections earlier this week, but thankfully did not derail his plans drastically.  He’s been conducting business and meeting with brethren in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, and will hold meetings with our European ministers early next week before returning home.

While the world is watching the escalating war of words in the Persian Gulf between Iran and other nations of the world, Americans are listening to another war of words between men who hope to be the next President. This past week, another big storm and deadly tornado swept through the southern states injuring more than 100 people and killing two in Alabama. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been writing and taped a new television program today. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that last week’s Tomorrow’s World program by Mr. Ames, entitled “The Sabbath Controversy,” is expected to draw more than 4,700 responses and set a new record for responses to this topic. Mr. Meredith’s Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation in Houston, Texas, last weekend, drew 103 visitors. Mr. Ames’ TWSP in Mandeville, Jamaica drew 59 visitors. Dr. Wil Pierre spoke to two large groups in Haiti last weekend. I will be in Geneva, Switzerland this coming Sabbath and then make visits and take care of business items in Germany, Holland and Belgium. Your prayers for these activities and for God’s people are much appreciated.

More severe weather conditions erupted this week. A “monster” snow and ice storm blanketed the state of Washington in the northwestern part of the USA, while torrential rains produced flooding in northeastern parts of South Africa. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith finished a co-worker letter and a Personal for Tomorrow’s World magazine in addition to holding a number of meetings. Mr. Wayne Pyle reports that Mr. Meredith’s television program last weekend, The Real Jesus, is expected to draw more than 3,400 responses. Today, Mr. Meredith flies to Houston for a Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation. Mr. and Mrs. Ames are on their way to Jamaica for a TWSP this weekend. Dr. and Mrs. Wilner Pierre are on their way to Haiti for a Sabbath service and TWSP. Mr. Ed Breaux reports that a total of 48 new visitors attended the two TWSPs that were recently held in Pensacola, Florida. Please remember to keep these important activities and the needs of our brethren in your prayers.

Severe weather continues to make headlines. Yesterday, a severe storm and possible tornado tore through several counties in western North Carolina (about two hours from Charlotte) destroying more than 50 homes and injuring more than a dozen people, while Anchorage, Alaska, is being buried in record snows. We have had a number of meetings this week, including planning sessions for utilizing the Internet more effectively. Living University classes also began this week with just over 190 students enrolled. This is a 33% increase in Spring Semester enrollment over last year and a 65% increase over two years ago. Mr. Hernandez has returned from his trip to Mexico and Central America. Mr. Ciesielka and his family are settling into Charlotte where he will head our efforts developing our Internet sites. Mr. Pyle reports that the responses to Mr. Wallace Smith’s Tomorrow’s World program, “The Fight Over Hell” should exceed 4,200. Mr. Ed Breaux reports that 29 visitors attended the TWSP in Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Breaux will make a follow-up presentation this coming Sabbath.

As we begin another calendar year, warning signs are flashing that 2012 could be a very difficult year--with an impending financial crisis spreading from Europe, the possible rearrangement of the European Union and war clouds spreading over the Middle East. Here in Charlotte, Mr. Meredith has been holding meetings. Mr. and Mrs. Ames and Mr. Jim Meredith and his wife Susan have returned from a very positive Kansas City Weekend. It was especially encouraging to hear about the new television coverage in Australia from Mr. Tyler. Mr. Hernandez and I had very encouraging visits with brethren in Mexico City and Guatemala where we spent several days at a summer camp and held a conference with the leaders of congregations in the region. Mr. Ed Breaux will make the first Tomorrow’s World Special Presentation for the year in Pensacola, Florida this coming Saturday. Mr. Meredith and Mr. Ames will make TWSPs later this month in Houston and Jamaica. Your prayers for these important activities will be appreciated.
